Day in the life of a stage mom

Some of you may know that I work as a commercial actor in the Bay Area. At times opportunities arise for my girls to work in commercials, print campaigns or films. (sometimes they are working more than me!!) Two weeks ago we got an audition notice for a print modeling job for Chloe (8) and Phoebe (4 mos) for CafePress.

I picked Chloe up a little early from school and took them to the audition. It went pretty smoothly! It was at the studio of photographer Marcy Maloy.

It helped that I knew the photographer and that Chloe had worked with her many times before, but you never know the variables on whether you will book a job or not. Since Phoebe is under 6 months they would need to have a registered nurse on set to ensure her safety, they may have wanted a different ethnicity or boy, but we found out a few days later that they booked the job.

On the shoot day Chloe went to school in the morning and we arrived to the set after lunch. The girls did great.

One of Phoebe’s solo shots. She can only be on camera for 20 minutes total per day, so we had to work pretty quickly to get her shots done!

Big Sister, Little Sister

While on set I got to know the client, CafePress, a little. I was impressed with how nice and genuinely enthusiastic about their product they were. I had gone to Cafe Press’ website before the shoot as I had never heard of them before. They sell shirts and other items with every design you could imagine and if you don’t see the design you want, you can design your own and make money if your design sells. I think that is genius!!

They gave Phoebe a really cute onesie.
