San Francisco Style File

Do you know what has started to become kinda annoying? Fashion bloggers. If you don’t follow any on social media then you will likely have no idea what I’m talking about.

If you do, how do you think this sums it up:

They take 4 hours to get ready, snap a picture of a latte and the very fattening pastry they are not going to eat, talk about seizing the day and then post high end styled shots of themselves wearing looks none of us could afford or pull off. They close the day with pictures of their nails and cocktails and the latest free gift they’ve been sent.

Exhibit A:

Ok. Maybe I’m a bit jealous. I’d love to be able to pull off a jumpsuit and get free stuff in the mail too.

I love fashion and in truth I love following these bloggers. I think it’s great that they have found an audience and have turned that into a business. I’m just a little tired of it being so styled and just a bit out of touch.

I need to know how to look good in ten minutes, not 2 hours with a carefully thought out wardrobe, a blow out and good lighting.

Exhibit B:

Of course she looks gorgeous and maybe a little inspiring but come on... overly produced. (Julia from Gal Meets Glam)

So what’s inspiring me these days? The street. Real women, real moms, real kids, real people who are getting dressed in the morning to work, to play, to LIVE.

That’s what I want to see and that is what I’m going to bring you every week. Real San Franciscans who are dressing for their life and not for their Instagram feed.

I have an Instagram handle that will feature these people I find called @sfstylefile. I’ll post my favorite of the week here on the blog with ideas on how to recreate the look at different price points or even with what you have in your closet right now.

Do you know how fun it is to go up to people, tell them you love their style and ask them if you can feature them on your street style blog? It’s the BEST. Giving genuine compliments to strangers is downright invigorating. You should try it.

What do you guys think of this whole street style idea? I want to launch it as it’s own blog, but for now it will be run here because I think a lot of you would be into talking fashion a little bit and seeing what the people of San Francisco are doing with it.

Oh and if you know a fashion blogger or stylish person who doesn’t post overly styled photos but still looks amazing and attainable link me up. I’d love to follow em.

xoxo from San Francisco
