The Exploratorium Is Rad

Steve got off his motorcycle after working Sunday morning and helped me load up the kids so we could drive down to the Exploratorium. This is why one jean leg is tucked into his boot. He has three girls, three jobs and drives a motorcycle so he can get away with being a little disheveled in my book.

We had never been to the new Exploratorium. Steve had gone all the time when he was a boy to the old location by the Palace of Fine Arts, but recently they relocated the science museum down on the Embarcadero.

Simply stated, it is the coolest science museum I have ever been to. We loved it. We ended up buying a family membership.

If you are visiting San Francisco with kids, or live here and haven’t been yet, you need to plan a trip. It really is quite extraordinary.

My pictures don’t do it justice and my camera was misbehaving, but I can tell you this, the girls were not bored for even one second. Everything is hands on. Every exhibit is interesting and teaches valuable sound science, art or humanity exploration. It is very aptly named.

There have been certain science lessons I learned at an early age that have stuck with me to form a solid foundation for the rest of my life. I think taking my girls to the Exploratorium will be an opportunity for them to get some of those lessons too.

Steve remarked that many of the exhibits were the same from when he was a child.

Phoebe loved this floating ball and we played here for quite some time.

While Chloe and Ella were making stop-motion animation videos, Phoebe and I were here for a good half hour putting marbles down the pegboards.

This was about the effect color can have on your senses.

Heading back to the car after a great day.

Have you been to the Exploratorium? Are you a member? How do you like it?
