Halloween

Halloween week was a success. I don’t think I had less work than in the past, but changing my mind about how I was going to approach the holidays has been therapeutic. I enjoyed my girls this week. I enjoyed carving pumpkins and putting on their make up. I enjoyed letting them stay up late and stuff their bellies with candy while I pilfered their bags of Reese’s.

This was the first year Phoebe actually understood trick or treating. It took a few houses for her to fully get it, but when she did there was no stopping her. She kept up with her big sisters for the most part and once a house was completed she would say, “The next house!”. As we were walking from house to house I imagined what she must have been thinking, “THEY GIVE ME CANDY AT EVERY HOUSE! THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING THING IN THE HISTORY OF EVER!”

Here are some shots from our week and don’t miss the video of Phoebe and her Halloween candy at the end!

Chloe made her own costume. She sewed the dress with her Grandma and made the horns herself.

The weather this week was wonderful. Fall in the Bay Area is pretty spectacular. This was one day after school when Phoebe had just gotten her fairy wings to complete her “Minnie Mouse Fairy” costume.

I got to attend Ella’s school event where they trick or treated at a local college and had a class party.

It was raining during the day on Halloween so Chloe decided to leave her Maleficent costume at home and go as Judy Jetson for the school parade.

The rain let up just in time for a perfect cool but not too cold evening.

Phoebe’s Minnie ears didn’t last long.

How was your Halloween? I would love to hear about it. Please let me know in the comments below or on Facebook.

ps Not pictured (because in every shot someone was blinking!) is my mother-in-law who went all out this year dressed as an amazing cat. She was able to go trick-or-treating with us for the first time in several years which was wonderful.

  1. Our Halloween was wonderful as well! Arabella is not into the trick or treating she hates the scary costumes and masks. So we did not take her out. But she had a great party at her school and all in all it was a great day! I love how creative your girls are. I always make my own costumes each year, I found it’s better that way.
