Last week I went to Nordstrom with Chloe. We were in the make up section and I was getting matched for a new foundation at Bobbie Brown. This is where the lady would not stop telling me how dry my skin was.
At first I thought “Great, she is just trying to up-sell me. Me? Dry skin? Right.” Then I really started to look at what she was talking about. She was right. She applied about 4 layers of moisturizer and my skin soaked up every bit of it. She told me what was most likely causing this was the cleanser I used.
I think I have not fully gotten over my teen years where I had the most oily skin imaginable and acne. In my mind I still have that type of skin even though I rarely get a pimple and now I apparently have dry skin. Recently I have been washing and washing and using exfoliators (both grainy ones and acidic ones) to try to clear my pores and address the fine lines. Isn’t that what you read in the beauty mags? Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate?
My recent exfoliation kick has partly been influenced by all the ads for Clarisonic’s wonder brush. $119-$250 for a vibrating face cleaner. I wasn’t willing to take the plunge on that so I was just scrubbing away.
I had a little extra Christmas money so I decided to follow the hype and get the thing.
I have been using it with my old clarifying cleanser but today I went and got a more moisturizing one. This is the “State of the Face” as of today.
These are the products I am going to use and I am going to try to find an effective eye cream as well. Any suggestions?
I will check back in with you guys on this in a few weeks to see if there are any visible results from my new magic wand and gentler cleaning habits.
Please feel free to share any tricks or tips you guys have.
