New Discovery

Do you ever get the feeling when you stumble upon something amazing that you cannot believe you have lived your life so far without it?

I’ve had that feeling a number of times. The first time I rock climbed, every time I enter a National Park, a really good cheese. You feel kind of robbed but at the same time wonder if anyone else has been missing out too.

There are so many things to discover about San Francisco. I have recently started to really open my eyes and look at my city. It is incredibly alive and entertaining. I post a lot of the interesting things I see on Instagram. (@jenlatch) Except of course the parade of 20-30 scooters I saw on the Bay Bridge last week who were part of the South Bay Scooter Posse. They had jackets and everything. For a fleeting moment I considered getting my camera out, but my three girls in the back and the thought that the spectacle of scooters was already causing enough of a hazard kept my hands firmly on the wheel.

Today the girls and I were scoping out locations for Chloe’s upcoming party. A park I had never even heard of before was on the list. Mountain Lake Park. Steve told me he used to play there at a child.

It is right off Lake Street at 9th Ave. There was a kind of magic quality there today. The light, the old school green benches and the fact that it looked like it had been so loved. It was worn out, the playground needs an upgrade, but the park just seemed so loved by all the people who were there and all the people who had been there in the past. It was practically sparkling.

Both my girls are amazing at the monkey bars. I never could do it. They must get it from their dad.

The old school playground. Many of the structures are being redone across the city.

See? Sparkling.
