When you find a person who can create beauty in their environment like no one else you’ve seen and who makes you feel like you can accomplish anything and make your life better, my advice is you do something to make sure that person is going to be in your life for a long time.
I found that with Michelle Workman. She has a way about her that makes me feel like I can be the greatest artist, mother, or whatever I set my mind to. Oddly she does this without even saying anything along those lines and without pointing out one single fault that I may have. She just makes the life of people she touches better.
I am very lucky that my long-time friend Justin married her. She has a parenting style that is very similar and at the same time very different than mine. She and Justin can have their 2 boys asleep by 7:30 every night, it is something to behold and I bow down to their discipline, but in other areas they are just as loosey-goosey as me and we have lots of fun together. On top of that I think she was more obsessed with my 3rd baby Phoebe than I was and threatened to kidnap her regularly.
So how, how was I going to make sure this woman would be able to stay in my life forever? The answer was simple. She is now Phoebe’s godmother.
Michelle and Justin are starting a new adventure of moving their family to Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Design Network is following their journey with a reality TV show Glamour Goes South.
Of course I am sad to see them go, but there is something very exciting and magical about the idea of summer vacations and weekend trips where the children can run barefoot in the grass, the Southern sky can shine through Phoebe’s toddler curls as she walks on little chubby legs playing with sticks and I can sit for hours on the porch with my friend watching the afternoon go by.
