I have been trying to find a place for the girls to take dance lessons for a long time. The studios I found were always cost prohibitive and frankly were just a bit stuck up. I don’t want the subject of art and dance approached with my children from the standpoint of perfection, body type or how much money I can shell out. I wanted a professional dance class that taught technique but also approached dance as an art form in a warm and caring environment.
This is the ODC Dance Commons. It is located between the Mission District and Potrero. It can be compared to a dance warehouse boasting several studios and all forms of dance. It caters to all ages and all walks of life. You can feel the energy when you walk in. Just a clean, open, accepting space where you can come and be with other people and DANCE. Don’t get me wrong…. it’s not all loosey goosey in there. There is some SERIOUS dance training going on as well with professional career dancers and teachers.
The girls don’t have classes at the same time, so when Ella was in her class Chloe and I headed over to a local cafe- The Stable Cafe on Folsom near 17th. Don’t go to the Stable if you are in a rush, but if you want a laid back, super yummy breakfast or lunch with a Spanish-Californian vibe go here. It wont disappoint. In the courtyard on Saturdays Three Babes Bakeshop sells pie slices that will make your mouth water and keep you begging your kid for more bites.
I am so happy to find this community of artists that my children will get to experience and I think I will be taking a class soon so I can work off all my pie bites. Adult classes are only 11 bucks!
They still have openings for the winter/spring session. Go check out the website here and go dance!!
Cute! Love the pic of Chloe and phoebe!
Thanks Sarah! Your baby is just to die for. I cannot handle the instagram pics…. I haven’t seen any for a few days! Must post more now!!!!!
