Sleep Please – Tips from cool dads Andy Herald and Charlie Capen

I was searching and searching the internet to find some good solid advice on co-sleeping. I did not co-sleep with my first two girls because I thought they needed to be able to fall asleep on their own and this would set them up for going to bed easier in the future. I was wrong. Welcome to torture. Up until just recently Chloe and Ella were nightly battles which would result in Steve and I so exhausted, frustrated and in the end ecstatic that they had finally gone to sleep.

I decided that with Phoebe  I was going the total opposite direction. I hold her until she falls asleep, don’t really stress about her sleeping through the night and she has been sleeping with us in our very tiny full-sized bed.

Well we are pretty tired and I wanted some advice on how to co-sleep and possibly transition her to her crib.

Here is our story.

  1. I put a small crib right up next to the bed so when the baby fell asleep we could lift it into the crib.
And for bedtime we laid down with our kids at night, read a story and then laid with them till they fell asleep. And gave them some natural calm every night as part of the routine. The magnesium relaxes them and it comes in flavors. You do a teaspoon between the two.

    • I need to order some more calm. That is a good idea on the crib. Phoebe didn’t really like her bassinet. We will be setting up her crib soon, I am going to have to find the softest mattress I can get. She likes to be cozy!

  2. Hahahahahahahaha
    So great.
And you and your baby are
Uh-dooooorable! Thanks for the laughs. Hopefully we’ll laugh ourselves to sleep…

  3. So hilarious! All my kids have slept in bed with us at various times in their lives. Casey slept with us till he was 5. When we got a king size bed our lives changed for ever and we never looked back, we all got sleep. Casey is now 12 and sleeps in his own bed. Now we only have to fight the cat and dog out of the bed.
